Sowing seeds
I walked into this town library in middle Iowa last summer while doing research. They proudly had books by Oliver North, Rush Limbaugh and Bill O'Reilly on display. Makes it easy to understand why people in this country jubilantly sent over 3000 of their youngsters to slaughter in Iraq.
There was a surprise discovery in that library, though. I found "Seed." It might be the best new magazine published in 2006.
It says its about "science as culture;" I think culture is science. Any way, it's a wonderful little publication -- by no means "Wired" and certainly not "FMR" -- and, unless your fear stem cell research and scoff at global warming, you will find it worth some of your time.
